On November 5, 2010, along with the castrum, the ruins of the Roman amphitheater were discovered. The amphitheater is carved on Trajan's Column. Archaeologists have been searching for him for more than 100 years. Specialists even tended to consider the amphitheater of Drobeta a fantasy of the famous architect Apollodorus of Damascus. The amphitheater, oval in shape, has an opening of 36 meters, but the excavations have not yet been completed, for now it cannot say with certainty the real dimensions. It is possible that this amphitheater is one of the largest on dacia's territory, currently there are only three on the territory of Romania.
