The town of Drobeta Turnu-Severin was and is a city with an important strategic location, being located at the crossroads of roads on land and water that lead to the North and South of the Danube. It has a very high historical importance, this being the first urban center in the region, but also a commercial importance, due to its location on the Danube.
Drobeta Turnu-Severin is also a great tourist center, both due to its history and geographical position, summing up a multitude of social-historical and cultural tourist attractions. Among them, we mention: Traian's Bridge Foot, the Roman Castrum, the Museum of the Iron Gates Region, the Medieval Fortress of Severin, the Natural Park "Iron Gates", the Palace of Culture "Teodor Costescu", The Face of Decebalus, the Mraconia Monastery and many others.
