The Art Museum of Drobeta-Turnu Severin is located in the center of the city, in Eliade Square, in one of the most beautiful buildings in the city and even in the county. It is also known as the "Gheorghe Anghel" Art Museum, and inside it there are important art collections.

The building in which the museum is located was built at the end of the eighteenth century,by some Italian craftsmen who were employed by Sabetay, one of the most famous merchants in Drobeta-Turnu Severin. The palace served as a family residence, and the style adopted by the Italians is the western eclectic one. It is an imposing building, which has few elements of d?cor in the exterior, influenced by the Baroque style.?The columns are attached and have composite capitals, and the windows are decorated with floral and mythological motifs, the most impressive being the stylized shape of Medusa.
